Event Statuses
Every event has a status that controls who can see it and what features are available. Here’s what each status means:
Status overview
| Status | Visible to guests? | RSVPs accepted? | Photo uploads? | When to use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pending | No | No | No | You’re still setting things up |
| Open | Yes | Yes | No | Your event is open for RSVPs |
| Active | Yes | Yes | Yes | Your event is happening — go live! |
| Completed | Yes (read-only) | No | No | The event has happened |
| Archived | No | No | No | You’re done and want to hide it |
Pending (default)
When you first create an event, it starts as Pending. This means:
- The event is not visible to anyone except you
- No public event page exists yet
- Invite links won’t work — guests will see a 404 page
- Use this time to set up your details, guest list, menu, and theme
Tip: Take your time in Pending status. Nothing is public until you’re ready.
Open
When you’re ready for guests to see your event, click Open for Invites on the Details page. This changes the status to Open, which means:
- Your public event page is live at
oksyon.com/e/your-event-slug - Invite links work and guests can RSVP
- You can still edit all event details while open
- Photo uploads are not yet available — this is for the planning phase
Use this status while you’re collecting RSVPs before the event.
Active
When your event is happening (or about to happen), click Go Live to change the status to Active. This unlocks live features:
- Everything from Open status, plus:
- Photo uploads are enabled — guests can share photos
- Your event is fully live
Switch to Active when the event day arrives and you want guests to start sharing photos.
Completed
After your event has happened, you can mark it as Completed. This means:
- The public event page is still visible but shows a “This event has concluded” notice
- RSVPs are no longer accepted
- Photo uploads are closed
- All your data is preserved — guest list, RSVPs, photos, etc.
Archived
If you want to fully hide an old event, you can Archive it. This means:
- The event disappears from public view (guests see a 404)
- It’s still in your dashboard but tucked away
- You can reactivate an archived event back to Pending at any time
Moving between statuses
You move forward through statuses as your event progresses — from Pending through to Completed. If you need to hide an old event, archive it. Archived events can be reactivated back to Pending if needed.
